Below are a couple of interviews I had with different publishers. They will give you a glimpse into my life and passions.
Ann has been an ardent student of the Word for many years. In her healing and encouragement ministries she has stood in faith, and witnessed many healings and awesome favors of God in her own life and that of others.
Her faith, however, had never been put to the test so much as when her husband was at death’s door. She discovered that in a hospital, and specifically in the Intensive Care Unit it’s next to impossible to pray. It just seems that everything is coming full force against you and, instead of seeing a miracle, all that was evident was more relapses and loss of hope on the doctor’s part.
But God! Slowly but surely He encouraged her not to look on the circumstances but keep on keeping on – standing in the faith, as she knew to do.
It wasn’t easy. Despite many trials, downturns, and horrible hospital infections and mistakes, her faith gradually increased until… there was absolutely no thread of hope left for her husband to pull through!
The Holy Spirit inspired her to write down how the Lord had directed her to pray and, most importantly, how He had lifted her up and over all the setbacks. This is how her book “With Wings As Eagles” was birthed.
Subsequently, due to a deep passion to help others grow their faith in God, a weekly newsletter: “Embracing All the Promises of God” was launched: http://lifealteringwords.com
Ann knows that the Lord has called her to strengthen faith in the Christian community. Time and time again she has witnessed too many Christians believing that somehow God is going to fix their problems, and that they have no part to play in the process.
She encourages her readers to get to know the Word intimately and spend time with their Redeemer. Whatever He has done for others, whether it be King David or the child next door, He will do for you!
Ann’s Personal Biography
I was born in Montreal, Canada but spent my early childhood in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles. On my return to Canada, I attended high school in a small town in Ontario before embarking on my university and career path, which brought me to Montreal.
My original language was Dutch, but English, Spanish and French were taught at the primary school level in the Dutch West Indies, as CuraVao and her sister islands Aruba and Bonaire were called then. I have since retained proficiency in English, French and Dutch, and practice Spanish whenever I get the chance. I am thankful for the distinct advantage of having grown up in a multi-cultural milieu where smooth absorption of multiple languages at a young age was the norm.
Jack and I met and got married in Montreal during my final at university. My B.A. in Psychology catapulted me into a rewarding career in Human Resources. My secretarial and linguistic skills also profited me in administration and editing.
Being slightly ahead of the baby boomers, I am now able to devote my full attention to my God-ordained purpose. We were blessed with two wonderful daughters and now enjoy our new roles of grandparents.
The Lord used my first child to bring us to Him. Coming from a religious background, we wanted to have our daughter baptized. As neither one of us had been attending church for years at the time, we chose the nearest church. It turned out that church had a policy that required a minimum regular attendance of three months before they would perform a baptism. Lo and behold they had a vibrant Spirit-filled prayer group and in very short order Jack and I both accepted the Lord and were baptized in the Holy Spirit! Praise God! He knew that we were both turned off the traditional but didn’t know just where to go from there!
I don’t recall either one of us ever missing a weekly prayer group. The Lord led us to different churches and sometimes the babysitting fee seemed like sheer luxury, but the Lord was first and foremost in our lives – and He always provided.
Over the years I’ve been involved in core leadership, including teaching and healing ministries. The main purpose I know the Lord called me to very early in my Christian walk was encouraging people in the faith. For years I served in different capacities with the local chapter of Women Aglow, including president,. Women Aglow was modelled after the Full Gospel men’s testimonial breakfasts.
How did the Lord lead you to this?
Very deep inside I have known for a long time that some day I would write a book. Ever since I learned my ABCs I had been an avid reader. Yet, when it came to writing compositions in English class, I just couldn’t put the words on paper! Over the years I enjoyed editing other folks’ works, but never thought I had enough imagination or anything important enough to write a book about.
It’s just so wonderful to look back now and see how the Lord prepared me! As I mentioned earlier, He provided not only the content, but also the time as it coincided with my early retirement. Then He impressed on me a sense of urgency to get it out and bless many with it! He was truly the author of “With Wings As Eagles.” Once I put my fingers to the keyboard, they just raced effortlessly.
At one point when recalling very painful memories, I felt I couldn’t go any further. I stopped writing for a couple of days – when suddenly, while doing some filing, I came upon a large white envelope. I couldn’t believe my eyes! After a rash of serious hospital errors and infections severely contributed to my husband’s critical condition, we had considered the possibility of a lawsuit. To that end I had kept a detailed log, which was eventually filed away and literally forgotten about.
Right then, at that precise moment when I needed it, there in front of me was every minute detail of the memories too painful to recall but so pertinent to express God’s miracle working power!
The book is totally based on standing in faith and trusting God despite the circumstances. This is what my ministry had been. But now the Lord had really put me through a severe test! But God!!! If He brings you to it, according to your faith He will bring you through it! This is the testimony He gave me to give to the world.
What skills did He develop in your life to equip you for this work? What gifts? etc.
Looking back now, it’s neat to realize how the Lord uses every talent and experience to bring about His purpose in your life. Truly, “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” (Rom. 8: 28)
What I’ve learned most since writing “With Wings As Eagles” is that it’s wonderful to have prayer warriors around you when you need them. But, they are mostly there to stand in agreement with your own faith. The Lord showed me in the midst of my storms that it’s my faith that He values. “But whom say ye that I am?” He asked Peter. He gave Peter the key! That key is the revelation of who He is and that you have all sufficiency in Him!
It is good to be used of the Lord and see others healed. Faith has a different dimension when your own life or that of a loved one depends on your own faith. At that moment you’re in distress, surrounded by pain, hopelessness, negative medical reports and tests… you name it. That’s the time you want to crawl in a hole and let the world go by!
But… that’s precisely when the Lord says: Get up! The same Spirit that rose Christ from the dead lives in you! (Rom. 8: 11)
Over the years so many have told me that they admired my faith, but that they just don’t have that kind of faith. Now I am better equipped to help them build their faith – because everyone has been given the measure of faith. (Rom. 12: 3) It’s all about knowing how to develop it and put it into action, according to the Word of God.
These are the spiritual skills. It also taught me a little about the internet from site building to marketing and everything in between. This was difficult at first as it was all totally foreign to me, but now I am enjoying networking and sharing my love of God through articles and my newsletter, at the same time promoting “With Wings As Eagles,” and I thank Him for that.
What kind of people are a good match or rather what kind of people is the Lord leading to you?
The Lord is leading me to both Christians and people hungry for God who want more out of life but don’t know where to search for it. Many have heard that God wants to bless them but don’t yet know how to tap into their rightful heritage.
Where do you think the Lord is leading your organization?
I see my ministry mostly on the net and in home group Bible studies for the foreseeable future as well as a healing ministry at the local church.
I know the Lord leads one step at a time. That’s where I’m staying – until and if He opens a different door.
What has He revealed so far about this business experience to you?
To me, it’s a ministry of love. However, I realize that at the same time it is a business. I’ve learned that by opening yourself to others, sharing what the Lord has done in your life is awesome. That is the most important part of anything you do in life. In other words, if the focus is on blessing and encouraging others, God will do the rest. That’s all that matters. I know that He is my provider and ask Him daily for His Wisdom and leading.
What are some of breakthrough, blessings, or guidance that you knew were from the Lord regarding your efforts?
Well, first of all, it was His leading and timing to write “With Wings As Eagles.” Then I had another hurdle to cross, which was to write articles in order to generate publicity. Again, I honestly didn’t think I had it in me and didn’t have a clue as to where and how to get started. Then the Lord showed me that it’s His Word, not mine, that draws people to Himself!
I didn’t want to just pick a topic out of thin air and write about it. Now in my daily walk with Him I ask Him, and He leads me to a verse or subject that He knows will bless His sheep that particular day. All I do is “listen” and elaborate on the Scriptures. His Word is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. (Heb. 4: 12) It alone can draw men to Himself.
What skills did He develop in your life to equip you for this work? What gifts? etc.
The title of the book is not coincidence. In retrospect I wish now that I had added something to it to make it unique, only discovering too late that others have used the same glorious verse. It stood out for me as truly He has taught me how to soar over adversity. However, this lesson I discovered mostly after the trials! I now know that was the most important reason the Lord wanted me to write down the testimonies! It opened my eyes to the degree of just how very much He was in the midst of the storm holding me aloft!
Since then I have developed a keen eagle’s eye as to how He is present in all the little things all the time. Now I know that I know that I know how He lifts me up and keeps me soaring, and thank Him for all circumstances.
Now I have truly discovered the secret! Hey – that makes me laugh as I say it – the world thinks that they have found the “secret!” If only they knew what treasures are there for those who dwell in the secret place of the most High! (Ps. 91: 1)
Yes, I’ve learned some computer skills along the way, and that’s great – but nothing compares to the above-mentioned blessings and closer walk with Him!
———–
Ann, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how long you’ve been writing?
I have walked with the Lord for thirty years, and in that time, He has been a tangible guiding force in the lives of my family and me. We have been at the receiving end of His healings and provision a number of times. Because of this, especially during the past decade, He has shown Himself so powerfully that I knew I HAD to write these experiences down in order to both give glory to God and to encourage many others. I finally set down and set pen to paper about five years ago.
Who has inspired you as an author?
Truly it was the Holy Spirit. I never knew I could write and had never done so before. I just kept getting stronger and stronger promptings that I had to put in writing what the Lord had done. The book practically wrote itself. I could not believe how fast and fluently it flowed forth. That would never have happened if I had forced myself to write something.
Since then I have been writing Christian faith-based inspirational articles to help others in their journey of faith.
What is your favorite book?
The Bible
Do you have a specific place or time that you write?
When the Lord gives me a Scripture, my favorite place to “listen” to His voice is to go for a walk along the river near my home. I will then type directly on my computer in my office. It may flow fluently or come in bits and drabs sometimes even for days.
Can you please tell us about your book ‘With Wings As Eagles’ and why you wrote it?
My book is primarily about the trials and pain my husband went through when the medical professionals gave him no hope. It describes the agony and the gradual increase in faith that eventually brought about an unexpected end. I wrote it to describe how to stand firm in faith in the face of hopelessness. It is a powerful testimony, and what Jesus Christ has done for us, He will do for the reader as well.
How and when did you first start marketing your book?
I started marketing my book by writing articles and setting up a web page: http://with-wings-as-eagles.com
What authors do you read?
I primarily read Christian books.
What can we expect from you next?
I have no immediate plans to write another book, but am sure that I am to increase my writing inspirational articles.
